Your family's data stays yours.

The short version

• Your child's work in the Wiseling app stays on your device. The app doesn't send it to us.
• The family link, when it comes, is end to end encrypted. Our server only ever sees scrambled data it can't read.
• This website collects only what you type into the waitlist form, plus cookie-free visit counts.
• No ads. We never sell or rent your data, and we never share it for advertising.

The Wiseling app

The app needs no account. Your child's name or nickname, grade, answers, progress, sheets, photos of paper work and records are saved in your browser's storage on your device. The app makes no network calls with that data and runs no analytics or tracking code. You can save a backup file and restore it at any time. If you delete the app's data, or your device clears it, it's gone unless you have a backup.

The app never records a child's voice.

The family link Coming

The family link will let you follow along on your phone and add another device. It will only turn on after you, the parent, agree to it. Your family's data is locked on your own devices with a key that only your devices hold. Our server stores and passes along the locked copy. It can't read it, and neither can we. If you lose every device and your printed family card, we can't recover the data for you.

The beta waitlist

When you join the waitlist we keep:

• your email address,
• your child's grade and your state, if you choose to give them,
• the page you signed up on and any campaign tag in the link you followed (for example, a newsletter), so we know which pages help families find us,
• the date you joined and which version of this notice you saw.

We use your email to tell you about the beta and to send a short note about once a month on how Wiseling is coming along. Grade and state help us decide which grades and which state records to build next. We don't keep your IP address with your sign-up.

To leave the list, or to see or delete what we hold about you, email [email protected]. We do it within 30 days, usually much sooner. If the beta doesn't go ahead, we delete the list.

Where it's stored: in a Cloudflare D1 database in our Cloudflare account. Spam check: the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. Turnstile looks at signals from your browser for that check only and doesn't use them for ads.

Website visit counts

We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, doesn't store your IP address and doesn't follow you across other sites. It tells us things like how many people read a page and which site sent them. We look at totals, never at single people.

Email with us

Email you send us is kept in our Google Workspace mailbox so we can answer you and keep a record of support questions.

Children's privacy (COPPA)

Wiseling is made for children under 13, used with a parent. We follow the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the FTC's rule (16 CFR Part 312), and we design to its strictest reading:

• Today, nothing about a child leaves the device, so we collect no personal information from children.
• Before any feature sends a child's information to us, such as the family link, we'll give the parent a clear notice and get the parent's verifiable consent first.
• Any help that uses an outside service to read a child's work will be a separate choice, off unless the parent turns it on.
• We ask only for what a feature needs: a nickname and a grade are enough.
• Parents can review, export and delete their child's information, and stop further collection, at any time.
• Children can't type messages to us or to anyone else in the app.
• The waitlist is for adults. Please don't let a child sign up.

Keeping data safe

The website and waitlist use HTTPS. The waitlist database is reachable only from our own code and our Cloudflare account. We're writing down our security plan before launch and will review it every year.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and, for waitlist families, tell you by email before the change takes effect.
